The Hero & Rival are two friends from the video games Sanrio Timenet: Kako Hen and Mirai Hen. They were sent to different worlds in the past and in the future to repair the Pillar of Time.

They wear a special helmet, clothes with an "S" or lightning pattern and roller blades. In their official artwork, the male character wears blue and the female character wears red, even though the male hero's sprites use a green palette. The player must input their own names for them.

The manga equivalents of the Hero & Rival from Bouken Jikuu Timenet are Tōru (male character) and Ēru (female character).

In Sanrio Timenet: Kako Hen and Mirai Hen[edit]

At the beginning of the game, the player has a choice of either playing as a male or female hero. The playable hero received an email from the Toki no Roujin, who says that he wishes him or her to help his world (full of monsters and Sanrio characters).

He explained that the Pillar of Time responsible for the flow of the past, present and the future was destroyed by someone, and that the world had been split into the past and the future.

The task of the hero is to repair the Pillar of Time by collecting monsters by capturing them with "Get Cards" or the Digital Camera that can be assembled later in game. Capturing 161 monsters (which do not have to be unique) will fill up the Pillar of Time. Once the player restores the Pillar of Time, they will be able to take a rocket to Mars and confront the person who destroyed the Pillar of Time.

The character who is of the opposite sex to the player is also sent to the other world. S/he will serve as the rival, and will battle the player a couple of times.

  • It is normally impossible to give these two characters the same name.
  • In the official Sanrio Timenet: Kako Hen guidebook, the female character was given the name Dijī (Japanese: ディジー).
